Project Overview
This full bathroom refurbishment in historic Duddingston Village transformed a dated and utilitarian shower room into a sleek, travertine-clad oasis. Located just a stone’s throw from Arthur’s Seat, the project involved stripping out the existing suite, reconfiguring space to enhance flow, and integrating modern plumbing, electric, gas, and joinery work. Our goal was to bring natural stone luxury to this Edinburgh home while ensuring complete functionality and a harmonious design that complements the local character.
Our Solutions
We commenced with a thorough removal of the old shower tray, tiles, and fittings. A waterproof membrane tanking system was installed on both walls and floor to protect against moisture. Full plumbing upgrades included repositioning the shower valve, installing a quality mixer, and adding a heated towel rail tied into the gas boiler. Our Gas Safe-registered engineers ensured all gas work complied with regulations. NICEIC-certified electricians installed recessed LED downlights and an extractor fan on a dedicated circuit for ventilation. The stunning travertine porcelain tiles – walls and floor – were laid in large-format slabs with narrow grout lines for a premium finish. Custom joinery included floating shelving. The result is a luxurious shower room with a spa-like ambience, built for everyday Edinburgh living.
