Marble Shower Room Refurb – Tollcross, Edinburgh .
Project Overview
This Tollcross project transformed a small, outdated shower area into an elegant marble-lined sanctuary. Nestled in a classic Tollcross tenement flat, the homeowners wanted a sophisticated shower room combining rich finishes with modern performance. The original layout was narrow and utilitarian, so we stripped everything down to the shell and redesigned the space to feel opulent, breathable, and entirely functional.
Our Approach
With the room cleared of all existing fixtures and pipework, we applied a comprehensive tanking system to fully waterproof the area. Plumbing was re-engineered to support a high-pressure thermostatic shower system, complete with rainfall and handheld options. Heating was upgraded via a sleek towel radiator. For lighting, we installed subtle recessed panel lights and a humidity-controlled extractor fan to preserve the marble’s sheen. Joinery included a bespokemarble tile finished vanity with a polished stone top and a recessed niche tiled in matching marble. Large-format marble tiles adorned walls and floors, providing a resilient, luxurious look that aligns with Tollcross’s period charm.

Seamlessly coordinated trades—plumbing, gas-safe heating, electrics, tiling, and custom joinery—created a robust, beautifully finished space. The homeowner now enjoys a high-end bathroom experience with easy cleaning, modern fixtures, and classic design—perfectly suited to Edinburgh’s sophisticated neighbourhood.
